The following are some of the community programs and activities that the MHAFBC sponsors:

Community Involvement

Health Fairs: If your organization is hosting a Health Fair, the MHAFBC would be happy to be involved by conducting mental health screenings and by providing informative literature about mental and emotional wellness

Children’s Behavioral Health Coalition: This group is made up of representatives from agencies and organizations that work with children including the school districts.

County Resource Guide

A FREE written Resource Directory which not only list area mental health providers but other social services and support groups. The mental health providers and support groups are listed on the web version under the “MH Resources” section. Both versions are segmented into three categories: Children & Adolescent Mental Health providers, Adults Mental Health providers and Senior Citizens Mental Health providers. The Social Services listings are located under the “Social Services” section.

Advocacy

Our Advocacy Program educates decision makers, elected officials and the public about the mental health needs of Fort Bend County to remove barriers to quality mental health care. Our Advocates and Needs Council continually assesses the mental health needs of Fort Bend County. To become a member contact us for more information.

Continuing Education Program

The program offers customized education and training designed to help those who help others meet the mental health needs of our community such as school counselors, therapists in private practice and social service agency personnel. Speakers Bureau

Mental health professionals share their expertise with area schools, parents, service organizations and corporations. Presentations are customized to meet the needs of the audience. For more information email us at info@mhafbc.org. We do need six weeks advance notice.

Telephone Resource Connection Services

Our Telephone Resource Connection Service is available M – F from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 pm. This service links individuals seeking mental health treatment with mental health providers in the area. The telephone number for this service is 281-207-2480.

National Depression Screening Day

During the first week of October each year is National Depression Screening Day. The Association organizes numerous locations throughout the county whereby individuals may receive a FREE Depression Screening and afterwards have the screening instrument assessed by an on site mental health.
